Mrs. Madiana N B Samba

Founder and CEO

Mrs. Madiana Nyanda Samba is the Founder and Executive Director of Community Action to Restore Lives (CARL). She  holds a Master of Science in Rural Development (M.Sc. R. Dev.), a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA. Ed.) in Language Education from the Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone.  She also holds several Diplomas and Certificates and have attended both national and international workshops, trainings and conferences. She has over Twenty-five years’ experience in Strategic Planning and Management; Project Development, Implementation and Management; Administration; Management; Gender and Women’s Rights; Human Rights; Education; Peace Building; Child Welfare and Protection; and Community Development. Prior to joining NATCOM, she also served on the Board of Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Board ( an international Board that galvanizes and support poor countries with resources to improve education quality), Chairperson on the Graceland Sierra Leone Board and Deaconess/Board Member on the Evangel Church Board. She started her professional career as a Teaching Assistant in the Language Education Department lecturing linguistics for five years at Njala University. She then continued by serving the Government of Sierra Leone through the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) in various capacities as District Repatriation Officer; Project Officer and finally as District Coordinator over a period of seven years. She then continued her career in Action Aid as Education Co-ordinator but acted as Programme Coordinator, Policy Manager Development and Development Area Manager, Western Area respectively.She is currently a Director on the board of the National Communications Authority (NaTCA) and chairs the Internal Audit and Risk Committee

Mr. Eswin Fonnie

Development Director, ED 1

Edwin Fonnie, is passionate development worker that has over 18years of work experience in the field of development, worked as development facilitator, child protection gender and advocacy coordinator, field coordinator school feeding District supervisor, programme Manager in two organizations, now leading the Team @ Community Action to Restore Lives. Brining hope the less privileged, through transformative programming.

Miss. Kiinya Samba

Human Resources and Organizational Development Director, ED 2

Kiinya Samba is an experienced Human Resources and Organizational Development professional with over five years of experience in people management, staff development, and institutional strengthening. She provides strategic leadership in recruitment, performance management, employee relations, and capacity-building initiatives that support organizational growth and effectiveness.
With a strong commitment to building a motivated, inclusive, and high-performing workforce, Kiinya focuses on strengthening systems, promoting a positive workplace culture, and aligning human resource practices with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.

Mr. Alim Turay

Finance and Admin Manager

Alim Turay is the Finance and Admin Manager at CARL, with 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, administration, and compliance. He has a strong background in budgeting, financial reporting, auditing, and systems strengthening, ensuring that resources are used efficiently and transparently. Beyond finance, Alim plays a key role in supporting organizational operations and administrative functions, enabling CARL to deliver impactful programs.

Mrs. Hannah Kambay

Project Manager

Hannah Kambay is a dedicated Project Manager at CARL, with nearly a decade of experience championing women’s and girls’ empowerment. Since 2016, she has worked actively in communities and schools, leading initiatives that promote gender equality, education, and social change. Hannah is passionate about creating safe spaces, amplifying women’s voices, and driving sustainable development through community engagement.

Mr. George M Turay

M&E Officer

George Momoh Turay M&E Officer at CARL (Community Action to Restore Lives) with more than 6years experience in Project monitoring, supporting and Evaluating series of projects around women and young girls deprived of their right to life in and out of schools. My desire is to formulated tools that can best capture needs and responses for the most vulnerable categories in project implementation and management.

Miss. Adama Jalloh

Field Officer

Adama Jalloh is a dedicated advocate for women and girls, working with the Community Action to Restore Lives (CARL) since 2019. With a strong commitment to community empowerment, she has been actively engaged in promoting gender equality, supporting women’s rights, and advancing initiatives that address the challenges faced by women and girls in schools and communities. Her work reflects passion, resilience, and a drive to create lasting impact.

Miss. Nathalie Donnah Davies

Field Officer

Nathalie Donnah Davies is a law student and Field Officer based in Freetown, with two years of working experience in community-based field activities. She is highly driven, focused, and committed to achieving results in every responsibility she undertakes.
She has a strong passion for girls’ empowerment and community development. Nathalie is known for her determination and work ethic—once she sets her mind to a task, she ensures it is completed successfully and to a high standard.

Miss. Mariatu Koroma

Field Officer

Mariatu Koroma is a graduate in Gender Studies and a Field Officer with Community Action to Restore Lives (CARL). She is deeply passionate about women’s welfare, inclusive spaces, and amplifying women’s voices within communities.
In her role, Mariatu supports community-based initiatives that promote gender equality and social transformation. She is a strong advocate for women’s empowerment as a foundation for national development and brings dedication, purpose, and commitment to creating meaningful impact at the grassroots level.
