Community Action to Restore Lives (CARL), the lead implementing partner of Women’s Forum Sierra Leone under the Spotlight Initiative 2.0 Project, participated in a capacity-building training for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) held on Thursday, 21st May 2026, in Moyamba District.

The training brought together grassroots CSOs and women’s rights organizations committed to advancing gender equality and ending violence against women and girls. The initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen local organizations and equip them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively respond to the challenges facing women and girls in their communities.

Throughout the training, participants engaged in sessions covering key topics such as gender-transformative approaches, advocacy and influencing, social accountability, financial management, and survivor-centred safeguarding. These thematic areas are essential for strengthening community-led action and ensuring that interventions are responsive to the needs and rights of survivors.

Speaking on the importance of the initiative, participants highlighted the need for stronger collaboration among civil society actors to address harmful social norms, promote accountability, and create safer environments for women and girls.

The Spotlight Initiative 2.0 Project will be implemented in three chiefdoms within Moyamba District: Kori Chiefdom, Ribbi Chiefdom, and Kargboro Chiefdom. Through this partnership, CARL and Women’s Forum Sierra Leone aim to empower local organizations to lead transformative change and contribute to the prevention and response to gender-based violence at the community level.

As implementation begins, CARL remains committed to working alongside communities, local authorities, and civil society partners to promote the rights, safety, and empowerment of women and girls across Moyamba District.
